What do you do at Simplus?
As a Solution Architect, my job is to listen to customers, design solutions to their requirements, and reassure them that we can get them where they need to be. Transparency in the process is very important, as is being willing to have tough conversations to get to successful outcomes. I think of projects like road trips, and the Solution Architect is the designated driver. However, the project won’t get anywhere without the support of the whole team and everyone has a huge role to play before we get to the final destination.
What are some achievements of which you are most proud? Both professionally and personally.
I’ve had a lot of help to get to where I am today, and I try to “pay that back” every opportunity I can. Seeing a teammate rise to the occasion and apply something they have learned on a project makes me feel proud, especially if I helped in some way. Secondary to that, the most satisfying part of the job for me is when the final product is presented to the client, and the solution meets their expectations. To get there, you sometimes need to re-align the expectations early on, but these tough conversations demonstrate to the customer that you hear them, you understand, and we will get there together.
What are your hobbies?
When my work laptop turns off, my home lab turns on and I’m tinkering with anything that appeals to me that week. Whether it’s building another computer from scratch or taking down the home network to build my own virtualized router, I’m always driving my husband crazy. I think it’s amazing when I’ve improved the efficiency of my home network by 0.1%, but he usually doesn’t agree. When I’m forbidden to mess with the tech in my house, I’m playing video games!
Why do you like working at Simplus?
It was immediately clear to me during the interview process that the promised culture at Simplus is real, and people are living it every day. I truly feel that everyone is striving to do the best they can, and also get to be their authentic selves. I get to work alongside some of the most crafty and inventive people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, so what could be better than that.
Tell us a little bit about your professional background.
I’ve had a few different careers and job titles over the years, but at their core, I’ve always been drawn to roles that present me with challenges that need to be solved. Before becoming a Salesforce Consultant, I spent almost a decade working in the homelessness and mental health sectors. I really enjoy supporting people and helping others when they are in need. The only thing that has changed is the tools I use and the type of things I help people with!
What do you feel are your greatest contributions that help make Simpus the best consulting firm?
I like to think I bring a different perspective to consulting, as I haven’t followed a traditional path getting to where I am today. I am hopeful that my perspective is valuable to Simplus both on customer engagements, but also in driving forward the company culture and internal ventures.
If you are playing Two Truths and a Lie, what answers stump people every time?
I’m a very bad liar, but it turns out that when I say anything in a British accent, people will typically let me get away with it!
Congrats again to Jonathan! Thanks for everything you do at Simplus.
